Sandi Vito Presents Student Health Care Hero Award

July 25th, 2011

The Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry recently recognized a Central Bucks West High School senior for his inspiring volunteer services. Acting Secretary Sandi Vito presented Matt Cain with the Student Health Care Hero Award after he contributed an impressive 1,000 hours of volunteer work. Cain is a volunteer EMT at Warrington Emergency Medical Services, while serving as junior member of Pennsylvania’s fire department. The high school senior was feted during the Pennsylvania Health Careers Week kick-off event, where the state vigorously promoted its medical field. Such an event aims to nurture the state’s future medical workers such as Matt Cain. The event was held in Harrisburg, and was led by the Department of Labor and Industry.

The occasion is just one of the many events promoted by Sandi Vito, all of which are intended to protect the economic interests of Pennsylvania’s workers and employers. Thanks to the Department Secretary, the medical field has successfully addressed critical programs like workforce development, vocational rehabilitation, and workers’ compensation. Thanks to events such as the Health Careers Week, the government is able to help thousands of unemployed Pennsylvania residents, while recognizing the efforts of its current medical workers and volunteers. Buoyed by Cain’s efforts, Vito urges more Pennsylvanians to try their hand at volunteer work, be it for the Doylestown Hospital or the Doylestown Fire Company. Vito, the Department of Labor and Industry, and the rest of the state’s healthcare field are positive that Cain’s efforts will start an avalanche of support from the people.
